The Crew

The crew is dedicated to providing the highest level of service to all guests.  Every member of staff plays their part in delivering the "ultimate barging experience."

 
The Captain

The Captain or Pilot of the vessel is responsible for the navigation of the barge and the safety of the vessel and guests. The Napoléon's Captain is fully licensed and has undergone extensive training.

Patrice Dubourg
Coming from a very well known family of mariners, Patrice has barging in his blood. He has spent a great part of his life cruising on the waterways of France and has countless stories. Patrice lives on his own boat in the South of France and has a real passion for wines. He is in fact a part-time Sommelier during the winter.

 
The Chef

The Chef prepares all the gourmet treats on board. The imaginative menus are created from fine ingredients sourced from the local markets, accompanied by fine wines and speciality cheeses that guests discover for themselves during their daily excursions.

Conn Mc Laughlin
From Ireland, Conn has been cooking for the past 10 years. He has worked with such people as Gordon Ramsay and Paul Rankin. Conn joined us after spending some time in the Alps where he cooked in a 5 star chalet.

 
The Tour Guide

The Tour Guide, is the host for the week and escorts guests on the daily excursions. He introduces guests to the district's most renowned vineyards, architectural landmarks, regional activities and local traditions. He is always on hand should you have any queries about your time onboard.

Jonathan Foschini
After finishing his studies, Jonathan left his native Canada to discover the world. He fell in love with barging after his first trip and is still enjoying this fascinating life style. He is passionate about history, languages and spends his winters travelling in the most remote parts of the globe.

 
The Hostess

The Hostess is responsible for guests' comfort on board during the trip such as extra pillows, change of towels, etc.

Vanessa Schumacher
Born and bred in the heart of Burgundy, Vanessa finished masters in law 3 years ago. She had been working on barges as a summer job but fell in love with the lifestyle. Her laugh is contagious and together with Sarah, she will make sure you have the most relaxing holiday.

Sarah Claassen
Originally from Cape Town, South Africa, Sarah left her native land 3 years ago to study hotel management. She has since worked in 2 Orient Express hotels and decided to try out her “river legs” by joining the Napoléon crew. She’s a professional and dedicated young lady who will make sure you have an unforgettable holiday.

 
The Matelot

The Matelot, is the Captain's right hand man; helping with the navigation and keeping the beautiful vessel literally ‘ship shape’.

John Pammenta
John is no stranger to the world of barging. He has worked on the boats for years and mastered all the arts of the ropes. He is a very hard working fellow with a great sense of humour. You'll be delighted to talk with him throughout your stay.
