The Napolean - Luxury European Barge Cruise in France

Avignon to Lyon

Sunday – Avignon.

On arrival at Avignon you are met by the Napoléon's guide who escorts you on the transfer to the quay in Avignon where you will board the barge for your cruise. A champagne reception gives you a chance to meet the crew. An evening cruise on the River Rhône to Roquemaure introduces you to the pleasures of river cruising.

Monday –Visit Avignon. Cruise to Viviers.

Your day starts with a walking tour of the magnificent walled city of Avignon, including a guided tour of the Palace of the Popes. Back on board the barge cruise to Viviers, a charming medieval town. From the boat you can walk to the top of the hill and enjoy lovely views from the Cathedral down over the Rhône Valley.

Tuesday – Visit Nyons. Cruise to La Voulte.

This morning drive through the wonderful countryside to visit the pretty town of Nyons to visit a local lavender producer, the learn some facts about this famous plant from the area. Take lunch off the barge today, at a delightful restaurant in Grignan then visit to the local truffle farm to learn all about these famous mushrooms and of course a tasting! The afternoon is spent on the river cruising to La Voulte

Wednesday – Cruise to Tain l’Hermitage/Tournon. Wine tasting in Tain.

A morning cruise to Tain l’Hermitage or Tournon, the barge may moor at either location. One of our favorite wine tastings is chez Ferratons whose winery is just a short stroll from the Tain mooring. His family has been producing some of the best Côtes du Rhone vintages for centuries.

Thursday- Cruise to Condrieu. Visit Vienne.

Cruising the Vallée du Rhône south of Lyon is a delightful experience. The magnificent vineyards of the Côtes Rôties and the Côtes du Rhône seem to descend right into the river as the Vallée du Rhône narrows en route to Les Roches de Condrieu. Today, your guide takes you on a walking tour of Vienne, a wonderful river side town full of Roman history. Return to Condrieu to taste the wine produced here.

Friday – Cruise to Lyon. Visit Lyon.

Your final cruise takes you right into the heart of Lyon, for a walking tour of this city. Lyon is a cultural, historic, gastronomic, and commercial centre, little known outside of France. Spend your time exploring the sights and indulging in some shopping. A farewell gala dinner will be served on board.

Saturday – Lyon - Paris.

After breakfast, disembark the barge.
